Away Day @Glossop

Glossop North End v Trafford FC

It was a lively start to Saturday with a swift run around Sale Water Park followed by a chilli sausage barm from Martin’s and round the corner to Saino’s to buy my carry out for the train journey. The taxi turned up on time to ferry the Courtneys and Haddocks to the train station. We were there early so the Piccadilly Tap was the obvious choice – very angry man in there arguing with someone down the phone meant we didn’t hang around too long. The train got us to Glossop in no time (time enough for 2 Punk IPAs), we had an interesting conversation with a girl going on a second date.

Harvey Leonard’s opposite the station was a gold mine for the beer and wine fan. The Friendship provided our next pub stop and a few games of pool which Lynn seemed to fluke some wins at.

At the ground it was straight to the clubhouse for San Migs followed by a very nice steak and ale pie. Surrey Street is a nice little ground with good views over towards the Peak District and there was a reasonable turnout from the Trafford faithful.

The game... So I remember Burnzeee scored and they missed a penalty (the ball came down with snow it). They equalised and it ended up 1-1. On the bright side I won the football card after the game so at least we took £15 off them!

Had a power nap on the train back to Piccadilly and when we were back in Manchester we decided to head to Dogs ‘n’ Dough for a good feed. Somehow, when passing through Canal Street we literally got dragged into a bar by a drag queen – so we had to have a drink in there before heading to D’n’D.

By the time we got there, I was in need of some soft drinks – my drinking for the day was done. Quick game of darts and then a massive hot dog.

Taxi home and off to bed...
