Supporters Club Update - Pennybridge Lane End

Trafford FC Supporters club have been very busy since Covid Lockdown restrictions were relaxed - trying our hand at construction work! We have been raising money for the last 2 years or so to build some covered terracing at the Pennybridge Lane end of Shawe View - the one side of the ground that remains undeveloped.  We also submitted a grant apllication to Manchester FA and received £2k in funding for ground improvements. The first phase of work has commenced this summer and if you have visited Shawe View for one of our home games so far, you will see progress in the flesh... or in the concrete should we say!

Part of the grass bank at the end of the stadium has been excavated, and two lovely concrete stepped terraces have been installed in three distinct phases. Members of the SC, led by the amazing engineering project manager himself Matt Brown, have been trying their hands at laying sub-base, timber shuttering, pouring concrete, and  surface tamping. Our novices have done very well indeed, even allowing for the fact that when the first batch of concrete was delivered, one of the concrete guys remarked; "Have you not got anyone here who knows what they're doing?!"

The new steps were partially opened for the pre-season home friendlies, and fully opened for the first League game v. Tadcaster on 19th September. On time and on budget (almost!) As well as improving the spectator facilities, the new steps are a huge benefit to our Covid safety procedures - the grass banks are out of bounds due to other FA regulations so the more hard standings we have, the more room we have to facilitate our supporters watching home games whilst socially distancing.

The club have thanked our magnificent supporters organisation, stating 'they truly are the lifeblood of Trafford FC and are clearly capable of making things happen'.
I for one second those sentiments and am very proud of what everyone involved has achieved, just by joining the supporters club is a huge contributed - thank you!
