1. I know it was a long time ago but I've got to ask you about 'that' celebration you did that time, you know, the floss. What were you thinking? Haha

It was something that had taken such a long time to learn and it was only appropriate for special events. So, thankfully, it was the winner on the day and it was fitting for the occasion

2. On to more serious matters; we've gone through quite a tough period in the league. Can you put your finger on what it is?

This year’s league has been very competitive and at times we we’ve probably haven’t capitalised on our opportunities. We play a passing style and at this level you can get punished for the smallest of errors. The effort and commitments there but a few times we’ve come up short with the execution. We are continuously trying to improve and long term we see the bigger picture.

3. How is the mood in the camp?

We have a terrific team spirit and morale’s high. We understand it’s a performance culture and every week we are working hard to improve. It’s a great place to be with a talented young squad that will provide long term success for this football club.

4. Do the players/management still believe the playoffs are realistic or is it a case of just one game at a time and where it takes us?

We simply take each game as it comes. When you start to look too far ahead it can be misleading. There’s still a lot of football to be played and we’ll do our very best to win them all.

5. Individually, I think you're having a very decent season for Trafford (so far). How would you view your season individually?

I've been lucky to be surrounded by some great players.

6. We've got Sheffield on a Tuesday night in the integro cup coming up; how difficult is it for non-league players having to make such mid-week journeys?

I think most of our squad are playing “Fifa” and “Call of duty” most of the day so i don’t think we have that problem. It’s their family members chauffeuring them about I feel sorry for.

7. As holders, is the cup game a priority?

We look forward to visiting Sheffield FC and if we apply ourselves correctly, we’ll hopefully progress to the next round of the cup.

8. Favourite/best away ground you've played at?

The John Smith's Stadium (Huddersfield)

9. We seem to perform better against the teams above us, yet struggle with teams towards the middle/bottom end of the league. Do you agree and if so, why do you think that is?

Possibly, but we’ve been competitive in every game. We're capable of winning regardless of league position.

10. Is there a team/ground you just don't like playing?

Victoria Pleasure Ground (Goole)

11. Favourite game for Trafford?

Last years Integro Cup Final has to be my favourite. We were pretty much written of when the they confirmed it was the Evostik Prem winners. Realistically, only those within the club believed it was possible. So it was great to prove the doubters wrong.

12. You are one of the more experienced players in the squad, how do you view your role in the centre of the park with a lot of young players in the squad?

When we came back this year the club had managed to attract some very talented young players that can bring long term success for the club. They are surrounded by some great characters like: Chris Palmer, Matt Cooper, Sam Edge, Jordan Johnson and Keil  O'Brien, who have all been successful over the years and can lead by example. We hope it helps and guides them.

13. Team you support?

None

14. Favourite ever player?

Dennis Bergkamp

15. Any ambitions to stay in the game once you hang up your boots?

No, it looks too stressful.

16. One of the aspects of non-league that us supporters like is the chance of having a pint and chat with the players after games. What do the players think of that and inparticularly, Andy Lee (the drunk annoying one haha)?

Its great to see so many friendly faces in the bar after the games, Home or Away, Win or Lose, the players really enjoy the interactions. We’ve actually missed a few noisy characters on a couple of the away coach trips recently. But we hope to have them back soon.

17. If you could have scored any one goal in the history of football, which would it be?

Roberto Carlos Free Kick vs France

18. Favourite sport other than football?

Table Tennis*

19. Greatest achievement in football?

Playing as long as I have.

20. And disappointment?

Playoff final loss on penalties to Salisbury.

21. Who are you nominating for the next 21 Questions With?

Jonathan McIlwaine
