Man of the Match v Kings Lynn Town

So we lost... but sometimes it is in defeat you learn more. Yesterday Trafford showed a lot of great fighting team spirit, a little ill-discipline and some more fighting spirit!

To be down to 10 men after 23 minutes was tough, a daft red card but an instinctive reaction from Callum (although a great diving save I might add!)

To be honest, 5 minutes before half time and 2 down, I was fearing the worst. Then on the stroke of the half time whistle, Nia finished expertly into an empty net. 1-2... to be honest I still thought we were going to be in for a tough 2nd half!

I was right, but not because Kings Lynn dominated the play and had chance after chance. It was tough because we deserved so much more than we got! The lads played like the team with an man extra. We stood up, battled and played some great stuff... then it got harder! Down to 9 men. Rory Fallon, who had been superb was harshly sent off for 2 yellows, the 1st of which was for not being 10 yards away from a free kick (at this level that is harsh considering all the pushing that the Kings Lynn players were allowed to get away with!)

Still, we were on top. If only we could force the ball home. Myself and Melody tried our best to make up the numbers but the ball just wouldn't go over the line no matter how many times it threatened to do so.

Maybe it would be easier with 8 men. Well we were soon to find out as Tom Schofield was shown his 2nd yellow for a late tackle (no arguements there!) Yet we were still the better side. The boys did us proud and the never die attitude of the players, inparticularly Nia Bayunu was why we applauded the team off the pitch and that is why Nia Bayunu is Man of the Match!

Nia has been ace these last few games and if Trafford can play like they did with 10, 9 and 8 men when we have 11 we will be winning more than we lose!

Well done Nia and well done Trafford. So many positives in defeat!
