Player of the Month - October

In what proved to be a very close vote, I am pleased to announce that the supporters player of the Month for October is Jack Dorney!

Well done to Jack, you'll be presented with your bottle of bubbly at the next home game. A special mention also to Phil Dean who was a close 2nd.

Good luck to Trafford for the upcoming month and hope we can continue to rise up the table.

POTM September - Luke Pilling

Yesterday, Luke Pilling was presented (by yours truly!) with his well deserved player of the month award. Luke has been fantastic since joining us on loan and i'm sure he's going to go on and be a top pro... but for now, let's enjoy him whilst we have him!

Also, I would like to say what a cracking day yesterday was. obviously the 3 points helped but there were so many volunteers behind the scenes that helped the day go as well as it did. So well done everyone!!

Non-league day...

Whilst every Saturday is non-league day for me, tomorrow is national non-league day... A day to get behind grass roots football and your local team.
So why not come down/up/across to Trafford FC and enjoy a great day supporting a great little club. There are many offers for tomorrow's home game against Radcliffe. Click on the link for further details traffordfc.

You might also want to become an official supporter by joining the supporters club for a nominal fee (minimum £1). If so, contact myself through email: traffordfcsc@gmail.com or come to a home game and ask to speak to myself (Andy Glinka, Andrew Sempie or Melody) and you'll be pointed in the right direction.

Support grass roots, support non-league, support Trafford FC!

POTM Presentation

As announced last week, Chris Mcdonagh was voted as the supporters player of the month for August. As a result, Macca was presented with a bottle of bubbly before the home game against Harrogate by supporters member, Tim Stephens.

Chris went on to have a fine game against Harrogate and was close to being named man of the match. However, after a great game and a couple of goals, Jack Dorney was chosen just ahead of Macca and Lee Rick (who controlled the game especially in the first half).

In fact the whole team performance was much better, lots of little triangles and the link up play from the front three (Macca, Dorny and Dean) was fantastic. It was great to watch and I know everyone is pleased for Tom (manager) as we haven't had much luck of late so that performance was the least he (and we) deserved!

Player of the Month August

Supporters unanimously decided that the August Player of the Month award should go to... Chris Mcdonagh. This the first time Macca has won the award and hopefully not the last. Fingers crossed more goals come his way and with it, wins!

Chris will be presented his award before the home game against Harrogate this Saturday.

Well, so far so...

... Well, ok really. A couple of draws, a defeat and a win in the league and of course today's defeat in the FA Cup.

There are many positives that can be taken from the games so far. The players look like they want to play for each other, we seem difficult to beat and we clearly haven't reached our potential yet... Which is definitely a positive.

Negative wise, we haven't been clinical enough (Prescott aside), we have conceded soft goals, we haven't really had any luck with refs and we haven't met the standards of pre-season... Yet!

I hope I speak for all supporters in saying we are still very confident and optimistic. One thing we definitely appreciate is the way the lads are playing for Tom and the shirt, highlighted in the away draw against Mossley.

We go again on Monday, at home against Warrington. Us supporters will be right behind you and hopefully we can move on from today's defeat... Another combination of wasted opportunities, a bit of slack defending and poor refereeing (how was that not a penalty... And how was that their throw-in?). Once we click we know we'll be up there.

In terms of my own performance, well everyone who knows me knows I'm passionate... Sometimes overly so and I apologise to anyone I offended on the away day to Scarborough. A combination of alcohol and a wee bit more alcohol, (plus a bit of Matt B planting some seeds) equated to some loud and naughty language from yours truly! I know it's hard to believe!!!! Lesson learned, I mean what was I doing talking about politics anyway! Haha! But seriously,  all I really care about is this club and winning games!!! Plus, I always get a bit giddy on the first 'away day' of the season!

I just want to say one last thing, it is ace to see Chrissy Mac playing the way he is, especially after last season where, and I hope he doesn't mind me saying this, he didn't look interested. He has come back looking fit, hungry and with tons of desire. Hopefully this will rub off on the other lads.

Up the Trafford!

Q&A's With Tom Baker

With less than a week before our first pre-season friendly (a trip on the fun bus to North Wales), the buzz around everyone at the club is getting bigger.

In the time since the end of last season and now, Trafford have brought in a new manager... Tom Baker. Tom had a great playing career himself and although it was cut short through injury, he is clearly motivated and excited by his new role as manager of our super, little club.

To get to know Tom a bit better and to wet the appetite ahead of the new season, Tom kindly answered some questions this weekend:

Supporters Club: I know its early days, but how have you found the transition from player to manager?
Tom Baker: Relative ease so far. Possibly the type of player and character I am and was has made the transition not to difficult, although I'm sure I will have some stumbling blocks along the way. The most difficult part is not wanting to kick a ball myself.

SC: Before you came to Trafford FC, what were your thoughts on the club and have they changed since you became manager?
TB: Always look on Trafford as a good, family club that play an attractive brand of football and are renown for a great pitch.
Since becoming manager I have now seen all the hardwork that goes on in the background by people to make it the club it is.

SC: Who do you support?
TB: Manchester United

SC: If you could have anyone in your team, past or present, who would it be?
TB: Andres Iniesta

SC: Who is the best manager you have played under?
TB: Garry Flitcroft

SC: Lager, ale or cider?
TB: Lager

SC: Is Chris Denham at the club just as your assistant or as a player too?
TB: Firstly assistant, will be used as player if needed

SC: What has been your biggest achievement in football?
TB: Football league debut, Captaining FC Halifax in FA cup first round on ITV and appointment at Trafford.

SC: … and biggest disappointment?
TB: Having to retire at the age of 28 due to knee.

SC: You said recently (in local paper) that a goal keeper is a priority after Tom Read left. Is Russ Saunders still on the books for the coming season?
TB: Russ is still here!

SC: What are your thoughts on the season ahead?
TB: Looking forward to hopefully a successful season at fantastic club, hoping to build a group of players that we can all be proud off.

Thank you to Tom and good luck to everyone at the club for the coming season from us supporters.

New signings

When your team makes a pre-season signing, it creates a buzz. So imagine how we feel after the club announced six (6) new signings today!

It had been a quiet few weeks and although I'd heard some strong rumours recently, nothing had been confirmed. However, this morning it was announced that we'd signed Ben Deegan and Mark Haslam from Ashton United, Danny Lambert and Danny Lafferty (Radcliffe), Scott Sephton (Congleton) and Matty Kay from FC Utd!

Good luck to all the new lads and obviously those that will remain from last season... I don't want to expect too much but I think it could be a really exciting year!

Welcome Tom Baker

Yesterday, Trafford FC announced Tom Baker as our new manager.

On behalf of all our supporters, I would  like to welcome Tom to the club and we wish him all the best. Personally, I'm delighted that the club have gone with a young, up and coming coach and hopefully he will bring some enthusiasm and freshness to the team.

Roll on next season... I can't wait!

POTM - March

Now a bit of positive news...
TOM READ...

... For someone who can't kick and is a fat bastard (according to all other teams supporters), he ain't half bad.

He's been cracking all season but especially the last couple of months.

So whilst there are commiserations all round on being relegated, we'd still like to acknowledge TOM READ as the supporters POTM for March. Well done Reado!

Relegation...

First of all let's do the bad/sad news...
We are down!!!!!
I've spent most of this week trying not to think about football, never mind write about it. The truth is we've been expecting the inevitable for a while and the greater truth is we just haven't been good enough, under both the managers we've had this season.
It's been a hard season with so much turmoil. Too many draws and a lot of bad luck. Red cards, conceding late goals, bad refs... Blah, blah, blah!

The season has definitely been one of two halves, both with similar results... Not enough points! It's easy to blame Graham, especially as we still haven't won a game but results haven't really changed since he took over, just the personnel.
Whilst I still believe that GV deserved until the end of season, especially after such a great season the year before, I think it would've been tough to stay up even if he did stay, considering our position at the time.
With the decision taken, Graham's already tough job was made nigh on impossible when nearly all the 1st team moved on within the first few games.

Since then the football has been scrappy, we have looked like a mish-mash of a team. The fight has been there but not enough quality to finish games off. I just hope the players keep fighting and play with a bit more freedom now the pressures of staying up are now a moo-point. I think us fans deserve something to smile about.

Bring on next season and hopefully some wins!!!!

POTM Picture

As previously announced, Adam Jones won the supporters POTM award for January/Febraury.
On Saturday, Adam received his award before the game against Curzon (where our luck continued in the same vain as other recent games... just a shame it's all been bad!)

Anyway, congrats again Adam and good luck against Buxton and Stamford this week... we're right behind you!

Melody of the supporters' club giving adam Jones his award and bottle of fizz.

Player of the Month -Jan/Feb

What with all the changes since new year, the supporters decided February's POTM would also cover January.

It's been a tough start to Graham's tenure, what with games being cancelled left, right and centre and players comings and goings, but 6 games in and only 2 defeats is a positive. The flipside to that is we are waiting for that first elusive win... But my, have we been close? On another day, I could be writing this saying we've won 3 of the 6 games!

Amongst these games, there have been some decent performances. However, with exception of the Stourbridge game, we have not yet put out a top performance for the full 90 minutes. If we do, then the win WILL come...

Anyway, enough waffling... player of the month? A unanimous choice from the supporters... ADAM 'SCISSORS KICK' JONES. Well done Adam and all the best to the lads for Saturday.

Away Day - Stourbridge

We've not done one of these for a while but since this was our first ever visit to Stourbridge, I thought it was worth doing...

I have spent most of Sunday 15th Feb painting the walls in my house with a very bad headache. All this was to make up to the wife for spending 10 hours at the football on valentines day. Was it worth it? Too right!

The day started with a cheeky pint in spoons before setting off on the fun bus where we actually left on time!!! A very giddy Sempie and me were like two kids at Christmas... It'd been a while since our last proper away day! A chat about not knowing any of our players and after listening to a few of Sempie's punk tunes later, we were in Stourbridge. Some research on the bus told us there was a pub right outside the ground... Cracking stuff. Only when we got there is was bordered up, so off the the club house it was.
Once inside you knew you were in a very traditional, even old fashioned club. Which gave it some charm and character. A few ciders later and it was kick off time. If you want a match report please see Trafford FC's website although I will state that it was never offside in a zillion years!!!
I was 1 minute late coming out for the second half and thought it was a wind up when the Stourbridge fans told me Trafford were 1 up. Get in!
Forgetting the cruel way we conceded the equaliser in the 93rd minute, it was an absolute pleasure watching and cheering the boys on today. From a supporters point of view, if we play like that for the remainding games then we'll be proud.

A few more pints at full time and an introduction of the new players from Adam Jones at least means we know some of the players now 😆.
A goodbye to some Stourbridge fans (who were really friendly and genuine by the way - some of the best I've met) and it was back on the bus home.

A satisfying point but more importantly, a great performance and another 90 minutes of the lads playing together. All were outstanding but a particular mention to Astley Mulholland, Adam Jones and Reado... Outstanding!

Now it's back to the painting...

A Message From Rory Fallon

Earlier today, I received a message from Traffords now ex player, Rory Fallon. I must say I've always had a lot of time for Rory and this message only compounds what a top guy and footballer he is. As well as always giving 100% (that's all we can ask for and expect), he also had a fair bit of talent. So thank you from all the supporters and here is his message...

Andy, Just a message for you and the rest of the supporters. Thanks so much for your support even when things haven't been going so well of recent . Always stuck by the team and encouraged us.

All genuine and proper football people who support the club and you've always made me feel very welcome .

Been a very tough decision for myself to leave as I've loved pulling on the white shirt and have always given 100%.

Things will turn round especially with the fantastic support and also it's a great club, a "proper" football club.

Thanks again Rory

This Wednesday 21st January Trafford FC supporters are invited to come and meet and greet our new manager, Graham Heathcote at TFC clubhouse, 7.30pm.

This a fantastic opportunity to not only  welcome Graham but also ask some questions... and have a cheeky pint or two.

Looking forward to seeing you all there... Spread the word.

Player of the Month December

Believe it or not, we did have other things to discuss at last nights meeting other than our manager situation ;-)

December proved to be another tough month with only one win coming away to Matlock courtesy of Shelton Payne's hat-trick, and it is mainly down to this performance that won Shelton the supporters' player of the Month award for December.

Since events unfolded over the weekend, Shelton has announced he is leaving. We would really like to thank him for lighting up many a game and we'll never forget his 5 goals in the FA Cup against Droylsden. If ever you come back to Trafford, as a player or spectator, they'll be a bottle of fizz waiting for you.
All the best Shelts!

Welcome Graham Heathcote

Well, after a mad few days , the club earlier confirmed Graham Heathcote as our new manager (after a wee bit of speculation;-).

Clearly Graham has tremendous pedigree and respect within non-league football and hopefully he can have the desired effect in turning things around. The foundations are already in place so with his experience and our support we look forward to this new chapter and hopefully some more wonderful times.

From all at Trafford FC Supporters Club, welcome to the #traffordfamily and good luck.

News update

After last night's supporters meeting, every member wanted to jointly thank Garry Vaughan and Wayne Goodison.

We can not reiterate how much we have enjoyed the last few years and how far the club has come. All the best in the future and we hope to share a pint (or two) with you both in the future.

The club will later announce the new manager and the start of a new chapter will begin. We have to get behind them and the team and kick on from the foundations set by Garry and Wayne...

A Thank You...

In the wake of yesterdays news of Garry Vaughan and Wayne Goodison leaving Trafford FC, I felt compelled to post about it.
I don't know the ins and outs of what happened and right now that is not my concern. The fact of the matter is its happened. Whilst from the outside it may not be such a shock, considering our league position, to those who follow Trafford, yesterdays announcement came as a massive surprise... it still feels very surreal!

As chairman of Trafford FC Supporters club I would just like to thank both Garry Vaughan and Wayne Goodison for their time, hardwork and efforts. We have seen some great football in the last few years and enjoyed memories that us supporters will never forget... I mean, the mighty Trafford in the Premier League... who would have thought?!

I am by no means best mates with either Garry or Wayne but I have often spoke to both and I know how much they cared about our club. Wayne was very supportive in helping us get the supporters club up and running so a massive thank you to you.

Garry, well what can I say... non-league referee's will probably enjoy the break from your constant 'advice' to them... But seriously, we enjoyed watching you wear your heart on your sleeve and the kind of football you had us playing. So thank you.

No doubt they'll be involved managing another team soon, but as a Trafford fan I hope they leave our players alone ;-) otherwise, all the best for the future guys.

As mentioned, I'm a TRAFFORD fan and I will continue to support the team. It is a difficult time for the club but we have some quality players and if we can find a manager that can build on the foundations laid by Vaughany and Goodie then I am sure we will see more success in the future. I hope the players that remain still play for the shirt and try and turn things around.

This is a new chapter in our short history, starting with 3 points in our next game please!!!!
